Task 3 : Meaning of Galley,Curator and Artwork.

Meaning what is Gallery, Curator, and Artwork

Explain about curator, what is curator? In my opinion from my research curator is the person responsible for collections of artifacts or work of art, acquiring objects or collections of interest to the museum/gallery. Curator also need to cataloging acquisitions and keeping records, carrying out background research and writing catalogs, when the artworks send to gallery curator must be displaying objects or collections in way that makes them accessible and engaging to the general public.

A curator is the person responsible for a specific collection in a cultural heritage institution such as an archive, a library, or a museum. The curator specializes in a subject relevant to the collection and is deeply informed about the content it contains. This person is responsible for selecting material to go into the collection writing documentation, reports, and catalogs that describe the material overseeing its maintenance and preservation; and often performing other activities such as publishing research on the collection, arranging to meet with researchers who want to use or learn about the collection, and other activities. A curator may be a librarian, and archivist, a historian, or hold an advanced degree in any of a number of subjects.

Figure 1: The Curator

Touch of the title about gallery, gallery divided into two parts, one of part gallery is temporary storage, sometimes the artwork making by artist they want to get back they artworks, they just rent the place to exhibit the artwork, the purpose exhibit the artwork at gallery this is because the others people can touch the artwork, smell, feeling the past and can feel the situation. Some of people when they look at the artwork they will think what the artist want to convey the message of artwork and purpose put in the gallery, artist must be know how to exhibit the artwork and look interesting when others people come to see the artwork.

Figure 2: The Gallery

Touch the title of Artwork, artwork is created by artist either through painting, sculpture 3D like the real things but using recycle things that have been removed. In addition photography artists also will be exhibiting their work through photos that are printed and have a specific message to convey to others. Installation art also the artwork and can be exhibit in gallery but must have the nice place/space to exhibit and others people can feel, touch, and smell.

Name: Datu Alari Bin Datu Muhammad

ID card: UGDP2-04/12-00261

Lecturer Name: Mr.Tiffany

Subject: Basic Digital skills (DCT 3063)

Title Artwork: (Imagine Design from the Sound Record)

We need to require get sounds from the environments, such as apartment, the studio, canteen etc. These sounds should be listened to, and using digital tool images should be produce that describe the sound that we have recorded. The reason why we need to make the design from we got sound record is easy for us to think and imagine what design we want to do just from the sound record. My artwork design using by adobe illustrator and adobe Photoshop, about my artwork design from our sound record and feel about the sound and imagine design from the record sound, I have use from elements of design like Line, shape colour and form. My sound record is Heavy Rain, the reason why using elements of design because it is easy how to make the design like shape, using soft shape and curve, for the colour I use colourful for look harmony, soft, and because from the rain will be produce calmness and freshness, and why I design like meteor fall this is because my sound record is heavy rain and noise, about the background why choose the dark/black colour because the sound record is just simple and focus in one thing of Heavy rain.

Task 1 : Brainstorm & Research Museum Gallery Heritage

Brainstorm Museum Gallery Heritage

What is a Museum & Galleries?

A Museum is a building, place or institution devoted to the acquisition, conservation, study, exhibition and educational interpretation of objects having scientific, historical or artistic value. The word Museum is derived from the Latin muses, meaning ‘a source of inspiration’, or ‘to be absorbed in one’s thoughts’.

Museums collect and care for objects of scientific, artistic or historical importance and make them available for public viewing through exhibits that may be part of the permanent collection or through temporary exhibits, Curator to look after the objects and explain their history to visitors. A building that is a Museum can often be part of the collection itself, Museums can be said to ‘bring the past to life’ and are fantastic representations of the different periods of our cultural history. They enable visitors to touch, feel, see, hear experience and smell the past. Many museums now offer a programmer of events for different groups.

The galleries have two types it is public galleries and private galleries, public galleries which are non-profit or publicly owned museums that display selected collections of art. On the other hand private galleries refer to the commercial enterprises for the sale of art. However, both types of gallery may host traveling exhibits or temporary exhibitions including art borrowed from elsewhere.

What is Heritage?

Heritage is the full range of our inherited traditions, monuments, objects, and culture.  Most important, it is the range of contemporary activities, meanings, and behaviors that we draw from them.
Heritage includes, but is much more than preserving, excavating, displaying, or restoring a collection of old things. It is both tangible and intangible, in the sense that ideas and memories of songs, recipes, language, dances, and many other elements of who we are and how we identify ourselves are as important as historical buildings and archaeological sites.

Heritage is, or should be, the subject of active public reflection, debate, and discussion.  What is worth saving?  What can we, or should we, forget?  What memories can we enjoy, regret, or learn from?  Who owns "The Past" and who is entitled to speak for past generations?  Active public discussion about material and intangible heritage of individuals, groups, communities, and nations--is a valuable facet of public life in our multicultural world.

Heritage is a contemporary activity with far-reaching effects. It can be an element of far-sighted urban and regional planning.  It can be the platform for political recognition, a medium for intercultural dialogue, a means of ethical reflection, and the potential basis for local economic development.  It is simultaneously local and particular, global and shared. Heritage is an essential part of the present we live in and of the future we will build.
